Super Napier grass – How to irrigate Super Napier

  • Watering should be done on the third day.
  • Irrigation should be done every 7 days depending on type of the soil
  • Wastewater from the cattle shed can also be used for irrigation and is best source of manure.
  • Super Napier grows well in all types of water.
  • Even in the abundance of water and salty water the yield is not too low.
  • Super Napier yield in the natural irrigation is better

  1. with 38 years involved in operational irrigation systems, flood irrigation method is extremely wasteful. drip irrigation using underground ribbon tape will significantly reduce water waste.

    1. Agreed…. but Super Napier will require more water to get good yields. Also harvesting has to be done every 2 months upto ground level. Hence drip irrigation will be time consuming (removal of drip line and relaying after harvesting) and expensive
