How to prepare Vermicompost at Home?

First, we place a layer of dry coconut husk at the base for aeration.

Next comes fresh banana stems and leaves to regulate temperature and keep the pit cool.

Then, we add dry Super Napier leaves to enrich carbon content.

This is followed by dry cow dung, which acts as the main source of nutrition.

Continue adding cow dung until the pit is nearly full.

Let the mix settle and cool for about 2 weeks before introducing the worms.

“Now it’s time to add 3 kilograms of red earthworms—don’t dump them in one spot, spread them evenly throughout the pit. 🌿 Sprinkle water to regulate moisture and encourage worm activity.”

Turn the pile gently every few days to aerate. Keep it moist and shaded. In 75 to 90 days, you’ll notice dark, crumbly compost—this is vermicast, the gold for your garden!”

Once ready, separate the worms and collect the compost. Use it in pots, garden beds, or even for your farm crops. It improves soil texture, boosts plant growth, and is 100% chemical-free!”

Vermicompost is rich in essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Also includes micronutrients and beneficial enzymes like protease, lipase, and cellulase.
